Home-Start is a voluntary organisation and registered charity which was initiated in 1973 by Margaret Harrison in Leicester. 
Home-Start Ceredigion was initiated in 1992.

Home-Start provides a unique service with a volunteer home visiting service offering support to any family with a least one child under the age of 5 years who are experiencing difficulties.

 

About the volunteers...

Each volunteer will have attended a course of preparation and are all police checked before being carefully matched to a family.

Volunteers offer a listening ear to parents, practical advice if asked, transport and an extra pair of hands on shopping trips, hospital appointments etc., and a break while they amuse the children so that parents can get on with the housework or have some time to enjoy undisturbed peace.

The volunteers' approach is flexible and non-judgemental and the service provided is totally confidential.
